Deal Breakers

Dr. Phil often speaks of “Deal Breakers” in a relationship.  These are the things that you absolutely cannot live with, no matter how hard you try.  In a romantic relationship these could be things like a cocaine addiction, or tobacco use.  They are things that make you say, “I’m Done!”

Well, I would argue that you can have “Deal Breakers” in any relationship; not just the romantic ones.  I most commonly find them in my relationship with my job.  There are certain things that I can live with at work such as being short-staffed, getting yelled at by guests, having equipment issues constantly, stressing about the budget, dealing with quarreling employees, etc.  However, there are certain straws that break the camel’s back for me, and the primary one is being forced to choose between school and work.  I have chosen work over school too many times in my life and will do it no more.

Unfortunately, if the winds of change continue to blow as they have been, I may be forced to evaluate my “Deal Breakers” at work and act accordingly…

Horse Sense

Yes, I do mean that made-for-TV Disney flick that came out in 1999. I watched it last night as the entire movie is actually on YouTube, and I have decided that I want to work on a ranch at some point in my life. Most of my family originated as cattle ranchers so I assume it wouldn’t be too hard to find a relative that still owns one and wouldn’t mind some free labor in exchange for room and board. I remember growing-up and playing on ranches when I was a kid. I have ever fading memories of crawling all over tractors and sitting on horse fences. Every time I watch that stupid kid movie, I am reminded of how much I LOVED my childhood and how far away I’ve gotten from being the adult I thought I would be growing up. I want to be that kinda guy that isn’t afraid of a little hard, back-breaking work. In-fact, I want to be the type of guy that feels off if I didn’t work hard in a day. I don’t know. I am not going to up and change my life and become a cattle rancher, but I think some time in that culture would do me well and re-kindle a type of passion in me that died long ago; a passion for a good nights sleep after a hard days work. There’s nothing wrong with that, right? Have a good morning y’all!

To my coworkers…

Ok everyone. It has been brought to my attention that a coworker of mine is reporting my facebook actions to my employer. I prefer to keep my personal (facebook) and professional lives separate, so this is what I am forced to do:

If any of you know who is keeping tabs on my profile, please tell me in a private message so I can take action; you are all now my spies. If no one is identified and I receive another comment from work about my wall posts, I will be forced to block every person that I work with from seeing almost anything on my profile (regardless of how close we are outside of work).  I would hate to do this, but I cannot risk having my personal and professional lives overlapping.

Now, to the repugnant person that caused all of this: I added you to my facebook profile (something I do not normally do with coworkers) because I apparently trusted you. Obviously my assessment of your moral character was entirely inaccurate, and you no longer deserve to be considered a member of my circle of friends.  Please know that if I find out who you are, you will be completely ostracized from my life outside of work. If I see you on the street in downtown, I will completely ignore your existence and continue on my way because life is too short to acknowledge those with moral compasses as screwed-up as yours.

I thank the rest of you for your help with this matter and I hope I do not have to block those that I really do consider my friends.

My new baby! Her name is Candi because in person the color reminds me of a red fruit candy I loved when I was younger.

I’ve got this urge…

…to just delete my Tumblr, deactivate my Facebook, turn off my phone, go to the nearest train station and buy the first ticket to anywhere and run away forever.

But, alas, I never do…

Birthday Dinner

So my father and I finally made it to Rapscallion for my traditional birthday dinner and it was AMAZING as usual!  That place has to be my favorite seafood joint in town.  Here is what we had:

  • 2009 Carneros Chardonnay
  • A Dozen Blue Point Oysters on the Half Shell
  • A Traditional Caesar Salad
  • My Entree: Pan Seared Lemon Pepper Day Boat Scallops: “Never frozen, these scallops are pan seared and served on creamy lobster bisque with sautéed Portobello mushrooms, roasted red peppers and scallions.”
  • His Entree: Black Tiger Prawn Scampi: “Sautéed with fresh garlic, mushrooms, lemon juice, white wine and whole butter, finished with scallions on a bed of capellini pasta”
  • Espresso
  • My Dessert: Hot Raspberry Chocolate Creme Brulee
  • His Dessert: Bread Pudding finished with a Rum Sauce

If you had not had the chance to try this place out, you simply must. Yum with three m’s!

Anonymous asked: Why did you make this homo ass Facebook promotion just someone to ask you a question; this is some lame ass shit David.

This is Howard Rapp.

How have you been? Seriously what is this question bull shit... Illl yess ya it's a good way to waste some time while I am on an iPad it's fucking 85 out here and and I am chillin outside sippin on some coke and my cousin Jim bean.

Hope all is well. Howard.

The “ask” thing is part of tumblr. And that is exactly what it is, a way to waste time. I wish I was out where it was 85 degrees, but alas it is a freezing 42 here.

I have been well aside from a head cold. When I kick that I will be great.  I can see that life is treating you well which is good to hear. Anyway, hope all is well too!

Ok, so…

… here’s the earth. Actually I am going to stay in the hotel room tonight and finally beat this cold. Seeing as I only have basic cable, you all should totally fill my ask box with questions to keep me from going insane! That is all!
